The Rotary Dunedin Caretaker Group has continued to meet up and search for a new Club Meeting Venue, and look at ways we can help support community groups during the Pandemic.

A further meeting was held with Methodist Mission staff in the last week to discuss the status of their outreach programme and the growing need for assistance. What became apparent was there is potential there for our Rotary groups/committees to look at opportunities to partner/collaborate with similar community groups in the future.

Meanwhile the new venue hunt continues. The Caretaker group has been making contact with specific venues to confirm availability and usage costs. One venue that looks promising is Petridish on lower Stafford Street. They have a newly refurbished and pleasant meeting area in the ground floor and a new cafe/bar will be opening soon. Some photos of the space are below:

The Caretaker Group will look to inspect soon, and check out factors such as parking. Be assured that we continue to look at a number of venues also.

With the move to Level 2 pending, we will also now look further at temporary meeting venues. We were looking at a restaurant but this may not be suitable with the new Level 2 serving guidelines. In any case, a space where we can gather on a Thursday lunchtime with space between each person may suffice. This would allow for everyone to bring their own food and drink, either from home or a takeaway picked up on the way. Any suggestions for such a space would be warmly received.
