Last week we were priviliged to visit Forsyth Barr House and see close-up how a 1960's "eyesore" has been transformed into a modern local iconic "landmark". This redevelopment essentially involved gutting the building to a shell, recladding, orienting it's entranceway to the Octagon and adding a level.
Developer Chris Barnes was an entertaining and genial host and spoke frankly and honestly about the project, sharing his opinions on supply chain issues, CoVid19, dealings with council, project management, and much more - sometimes controversial, and not necessarily how they are portrayed in mainstream media.
One key point in his philosophy is to support local businesses!!
On a very personal note, in response to a question he explained just how and why he transitioned from Banking to Commercial Property development.
