Our speaker was Dave Sharp. Dave is the National Programme Manager of Conservation Volunteers New Zealand. He is based in Dunedin and lives at Purakanui.Dave previously worked in Australia on Conservation and has had over 25 years combined experience in both Australia and New Zealand. His main role is connecting people to nature and he provided an interesting Power Point presentation showing the volunteer involvement, including some 6,000 hours coordinated with 200,000 trees planted.
A strong involvement with Rotary in Wellington was explained with the formation of the Rotary Peace Remembrance and Community Forests Trust. This has resulted in the planting of some 100,000 trees in Wellington.
