“Thoughts from Conference”
President Katie recently attended the D9999 conference and was impressed by the presentation given by Jennifer Jones (Rotary International President 2022-2023).
Katie reflected that her focus as our president had been on local projects, and it was good to look at the bigger picture at the work that is done internationally by Rotary to create sustainable change and difference to our world.
We are all aware of the difference that the polio campaign has made to eradicating polio. We have achieved a 99% success rate but there is still some work to do to eradicate it entirely from the world.
Jennifer spoke about the importance of the work to empower woman and girls and the flow on effect that had as they became advocates for better health and welfare outcomes in their own communities.
Katie has come away from conference with a better understanding of the wider impact of Rotary. She encouraged us to go to the website and check out the projects on the website.

Next year the Rotary District 9999 conference will be in Dunedin, and we should all plan to attend - the Town Hall at Easter.
