Stories
Otago Rally project

Day 1 of the Otago Rally was stunning with lots of spectators out including at the Tarmac Super Special near the Anzac Ave overbridge.
Spectator numbers were well up at the areas we collected entry fees so clubs will get more for their projects.
Thanks to everyone who assisted it was much appreciated
Mayor Aaron Hawkins was doing his usual hitch hiking gig in Wickliffe St & was picked up by Hayden Paddon in his E Rally Car and taken for a few spins (literally) around the block – he looked a bit “green” afterwards
Young Harri Judd was rallying my old car yesterday but unfortunately it ended up slightly bent with a 14G accident. Both Harri & his co-driver were unharmed
Attached are pics when I had it & yesterday

Club visit to Preens Apparelmaster 15/4/21
Preens Linenmaster / Apparelmaster had representation from four different clubs at the offsite meeting last Thursday. Last time they hosted it was back in 2014 when there was just over 50 staff. There are now 73 FTE roles filled by 100 faces that are on their team to deliver services throughout Otago and Southland as a result of Linenmaster expanding.
Apparelmaster / Linenmaster is represented throughout NZ. Preens is celebrating 100 years in 2022. An insight into what happened to manage the business through Covid. Even though there is automation in action there are still opportunities to refine the process even further as volumes increase and to help offset wage costs rise.
Lean management philosophies , or also known as the Preens Way, continue to be applied in the daily mindset of continous improvement.

Zoom Hook-Up
Some of the 35 Rotarians from 5 countries who participated in a Zoom meeting of the Rotary Club of Miami Brickell 14/4/21. RI Director Stephanie Urchick spoke about Rotaries Strategic Plan, and lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Keep Up With Us

Duty Roster Coordinator
To allow Cameron to prepare for his forthcoming role as President we require a volunteer to take over the task of maintaining the Duty Roster for club meetings. In the past a spreadsheet has been used but this is not essential (pen & paper would work just as well!). Main duties are to extend the roster each month; and email reminders to the duty team each week.
Anyone willing to consider this position please contact Cameron to discuss.

Membership Campaign
Copies of the brochure (including our programme for March/April) are available at Club meetings; from John Drummond; or can be downloaded from the website.
