Meeting Attendance
Members are encouraged to attend Thursday lunch meetings whenever they can. They are an opportunity for fellowship, to hear interesting speakers, and to catch up with our Club activities.
Remember that if you are unable to join our lunch meetings in person, we can still provide a Zoom option. Please contact President Katie for details of the link to use.

Meal Orders - Update August 2023
The café has noted that many of our  Rotary members and guests are now ordering on arrival.  This makes it difficult for them  to manage staffing levels and keep up the level of service for us, as well as their other guests.
As a club, we appreciate the use of the venue facilities free of charge.
To maintain this it is appreciated if you would please remember to pre-order your food and drink from the lunch menu ahead of time!

Email orders will be accepted now up until 11am  orders@thedishcafe.co.nz

Menu Update
The Dish has updated our menu, bringing in some new options, effective from 31st August.

The updated $20 lunch menu (includes a drink) can be downloaded from here

Stories
Clean-Up Week 2023
An initiative of the Keep New Zealand Beautiful organisation that’s been leading the way in educating Kiwis on how to Keep New Zealand Beautiful since 1967, the club Community Projects group decided to support the local committee by organising a clean-up of a section of the West Harbour shared path between the OUSA Aquatic Centre and the St Leonards Yacht Club (approx 6 km).
Two teams of four were formed, one commencing at each end of the target and meeting two hours later at the mid-point (conveniently the Maia carpark).
Our effort resulted in 20kg of rubbish being collected (verified by the Weigh Bridge at Waste Management). The "most unusual item" award went to Gordons "backscratcher"; and although not "litter" the discovery of a thriving Strawberry bed at the side of the track did make Bruce wonder who was responsible.
As coordinator Brian reported "a very enjoyable result with good fellowship and a healthier Dunedin plus some good exercise for all..."
Last Weeks Meeting - The Great Debate
A continuous stream of lies, half-truths, selective statistics and misinformation...
But the Monarchy is safe (for the meantime)

Ex RYE student Steffen Sondergaard (2001-2002) from Denmark made a surprise visit to his host parents Peter & Susan Jackson at Naseby recently, he showed he hadn't lost his great work ethic, straight into firewood splitting!  Steffen, Hayley, Vera & Lucas are on a flying visit to catch up with Hayleys family at Earnscleugh.

A recent visitor to our weekly meeting was Rebecca Roberts whom the club sponsored to RYLA 2019 in Oamaru. Rebecca updated us on the highlights in her life since RYLA including her studies at Otago University, and future career overseas in the food industry. From her comments it was obvious that she has very fond memories of RYLA
