Updated procedures - Meal Orders

A revised lunch menu can be downloaded from here
(note addition of Fish & Chips and Pie and Chips options)

» Orders should be in by 12pm Wednesdays, including beverage choice (we can accommodate late orders, except for Club Sandwiches and Paninis, as we order those in)
» All members must pre-order, including beverages
» Advise if your order is a standing weekly order, then you will only need to email if you wish to amend or cancel the order
» Changes may be made until 10am Thursday (except Club Sandwiches and Paninis)
» Lunch will be put on the group table 12:30-12:45pm
» Payments must be made after the meeting is finished (we are too busy 12:15-1pm to take payments - it slows down our service to you and to others)
» If you order and do not attend, you will be invoiced via  Rotary
» All guests are required to purchase lunch (can choose from a lighter option e.g. scone) and may not bring in their own food

Please email your order direct to the cafe  kate@thedishcafe.co.nz

The Dunedin Rotaract Club is a group of 18-30 year olds, mainly students, but also a few young professionals, and we’re involved in a pretty broad range of community activities. Obviously due to covid, we haven’t done as much as we’d hoped, but since lockdown we've been getting back into it. We held a session of Baking Lives Better, one of our recurring projects where we bake biscuits and then deliver them to the hospital as a thank you to the awesome workers, and as something to brighten the day for the patients. We also helped out at the tree planting at Smaill's Beach (as pictured), which was an awesome morning, and a total of about 700 trees were planted. Earlier in the year we ran another Baking Lives Better, and also had a team go to help out at the Weetbix Tryathlon.
Coming up (depending on the covid situation), we've got a group participating in and volunteering at the Stadium Climb, to raise funds for Leukaemia and Blood Cancer NZ, as well as a Random Acts of Kindness day on campus, another tree planting, and some social events for club bonding. We've also just elected our new exec, who've got some really exciting ideas and projects planned for next year!

Stories
Captain Sir Tom Moore
Captain Sir Tom Moore, the 100-year-old war veteran whose record-breaking fundraising efforts captured the nation’s (and the worlds) hearts has been recognised with a Triple Ruby Paul Harris Fellowship. The recognition which has been championed by Flitwick Vale Rotary Club, who are based close to Captain Sir Tom’s home in Bedfordshire, was given during a virtual ceremony held over Zoom.
Captain Sir Tom, who aimed to raise £1,000 in aid of NHS Charities in the weeks leading up to his 100th birthday by walking laps of his garden, ended up raising more than £32 million.
During the virtual ceremony, Captain Sir Tom revealed he had been a part of  Rotary earlier in his life and had in fact been a member of March Rotary Club in Cambridgeshire.
