Members are encouraged to attend Thursday lunch meetings whenever they can. They are an opportunity for fellowship, to hear interesting speakers, and to catch up with our Club activities.

Our Club joined with others in the area as our project for the District 9999 "Day of Action" on September 24. Twelve of our members took turns outside one of four local supermarkets and encouraged donations of food items which were collected by "Kiwiharvest" and will be shared amongst local foodbanks. A record total of 2.085 tonnes of groceries was collected across the four sites

Sat 8 Oct – ‘The Dunedin Brick Show’ , Sat 8 and Sun 9th at the Edgar Centre. Dunedin Central are volunteering at this very popular Lego event , funds raised will be going to Youthline and Riding for the Disabled. Go along and see it!

Incognito Art
A reminder that the committee organising the Incognito Art fundraiser for club projects including the centennial projects at Orokonui Ecosanctuary and Rotary Park, are still seeking donations of A4 artworks. These will be displayed and sold anonymously - Some of the artists may be high profile professionals, some may be semi professional , e.g may belong to an art club, some may be well known public figures, but not known for being an artist, and some of the artists could be anyone! Do you have any artistic contacts who you could approach regarding donating a piece of their work? A4 customwood "blanks" are available from Brian Daniels bdandcher@hotmail.com or artists may supply their own A4 canvas.
Artists should have their work back to the committee by late September / early October and the actual event will run 7-11th November to be held in the Dunedin community gallery, 20 Princes St.
Help Save The Saddleback
We have a small project team whose goal is to raise funds for our first centenary project! They plan to reward corporates or individuals who support the project with a $600 donation or more, with a unique certificate of appreciation (click here to view). If you'd like to use this flyer to promote the project and find some willing sponsors for this special project, then please go ahead , but let Fiona know who you're going to contact so that we don't inadvertently double up with those already on our list!
Rotary Foundation Grant Approved!
Our club centennial project at Orokonui Ecosanctuary has been granted $6,000 by the District Foundation Grants Committee (subject to receiving final approval from the Rotary Foundation)
Our application was supported by the St Kilda Sunrise, Dunedin South, and Dunedin Harbour clubs; each of which will contribute a further $1,000. Our own contribution will be $5,140. The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is a not-for-profit corporation, and is registered in the USA as an International Charitable Trust.
Rotary clubs, Rotarians and friends of the Foundation raise and contribute funds annually (you may have noticed on your subscription invoice a discrete suggestion that voluntary donations to the Foundation would be welcome).
All contributions to the Foundation’s Annual Fund are invested for three years. After three years, the investment earnings on your gift go toward the operating expenses of the Foundation. Your principal is split 50/50, with half going to your District Designated Fund and half going into the World Fund, and clubs are able to apply for use of these funds for local and international projects.
Corinda Taylor lost her beloved son Ross, aged twenty, to suicide in March 2013 due to failures of the system and individuals. Because she believed that Ross’ suicide could have been prevented and due to the lack of support after his suicide, she called a public meeting to connect with like-minded people. She is the founding member of the Life Matters Suicide Prevention Trust.

Recently, Club Presidents voted whether their clubs approve participation in a pilot to develop, test and evaluate a new regional approach to supporting and governing Rotary and Rotaract clubs and members in Zone 8 from July 2023 to June 2026. 98.41% of our District clubs voted YES in favour of the regional pilot.
We now await the outcome of how each district in Zone 8 has voted.
