Last Weeks Speakers
Our speakers were Molly Barton a student at Logan Park High School and Thomas Grayson a student at Otago Boys High School

Molly & Thomas received assistance from our club to attend the National Science Forum held at Auckland in January & hosted by Auckland, Massey & AUT Universities

Both Molly & Thomas commented how they relished the chance to spend time with like minded people and to learn in a science driven environment. The forum was a residential course starting with morning exercises and then 3-4 hour sessions exposing the participants to a wide range of subjects including a biological session on making proteins, pathology, microbiology, sports science, robotics’ & wireless charging.

Without a doubt assisting Molly & Thomas to attend the forum was a great investment as it helped Thomas to settle on his future in the health sciences field specialising in microbiology research into virus’s such as Covid 19. Molly said the forum opened her eyes to a wider field in the psychology/biology area.

Rotary-Toastmasters alliance

Rotary International has officially partnered with Toastmasters International to form an alliance designed to benefit members of both organisations.
For many people, speaking in public is terrifying but it is a skill which can be learned and developed. A series of on-line study modules is available through the Rotary Learning Centre including "Getting Started", "Develop a Speech", "Deliver a Speech" and "Inspirational Speech". Members of both organisations are also encouraged to participate in each others meetings and activities.
