Dunedin Community Mediation offerings including Conflict Resolution

Established around five years ago, Dunedin Community Mediation provides an opportunity for individuals or organisations in conflict to resolve their issues by  finding mutually agreeable solutions.

  • Problems and disagreements happen in the community between neighbours, clubs, families and other groups.
  • People try to sort things out but sometimes they just can’t and relationships suffer.
  • Our aim is to provide good quality mediation to help solve disagreements
  • Most mediations are free.

A non-profit organisation funded by community agencies and donations, DCM's mediation team consists of some fifteen volunteers, all trained in mediation. Inquiries for the service or requests for mediation are able to made via our 0800 number or our website (www.dunedincommunitymediation.org.nz). We also receive referrals for mediation for a range of sources including schools, the Courts, the Police, Citizens Advice Bureau, Otago Community Law and other local lawyers - who each recognise that often a lower level approach to resolving conflict can prevent situations escalating further and find an earlier (and less expensive) resolution.
