Julie Woods is an inspiration. Her story was clear. There is help out there for people with sight impairment and with the right attitude much is possible and new friends can be found.
Her "why not" theme (the subject of her book) kept her audience (us) involved and her memory of the trip to Paris (with husband Ron) to recognize Louis Braille who established
the method of allowing blind people to read. Along with 450 other participants from 46 countries she acknowledges the system that opened the door of knowledge to those who could not see.
Julie has not done snow skiing but has refereed a nude Touch Rugby game and presented a "Cooking without Looking" on local Access Radio.
A talk we all greatly enjoyed, spoken completely from memory.

All current members should have received an email from Treasurer Steve Hydes regarding the semi-annual membership dues paid to Rotary International. Please remember that if you are not intending to continue your Rotary membership, the Board (through Secretary David Neill) should be advised  prior to the cut-off date of 31 December.

The Clubs "Rotaract Bingo Challenge" achievments got off to a good start last Wednesday with eight members "taking part in a charity collection or fundraiser" in the form of the Supermarket project. Together with other Rotary Clubs an estimated  1,600kg of food (and some non-food items like nappies, baking paper/foil, cleaning products etc), and more than 45 frozen chickens was collected and will be distributed through KiwiHarvest.
